It is easy to think this way but the fact is that most smokers adjust their habit to compensate for the weaker strength of the cigarettes. They often make up for the reduction of these substances in their cigarettes by increasing the amount of cigarettes that they smoke or by inhaling more smoke from each one. This means that they are actually being exposed to the same amount of these harmful substances. This is why, if you are going to try a form of NRT to quit smoking, you should begin by using the recommended starting strength for each. This will not be changed by the nicotine or tar strength of the cigarettes that you smoke. There is no such thing as a cigarette that is "safe" to use. They are all harmful to your body. Cigarettes are perhaps the only legal product whose advertised and intended use - i.e. smoking them - can be so damaging to your body.
